These photos were taken in April of 1955, soon after my parents and I moved to Maple Street in Woodrow, a community just across Jack Smith Creek from New Bern. You can see the new mailbox and post that had not yet been installed, plus some pipes and a trench for plumbing. My hair was curly in the back, as I hadn’t yet gotten my first haircut. The barber came to the house and gave me my first haircut in the kitchen.
